In June in Croatia you can have it all: sailing, swimming, culture plus all sorts of outdoor activities. In Zagreb the average temperature is 19°C (66°F) and in Dubrovnik it's 21°C (71°F). The tourist season is well underway in Dubrovnik (where you should have an advance reservation) but just getting started in other coastal and island destinations. You're before the summer tourist crush but everything is open for business. Croatian local and international ferries are on their summer schedules making it easier to get to Croatia's islands. FESTIVALSZagrebDance Week FestivalThis festival of contemporary dance attracts troupes from all Europe as well as the best of Croatian modern dance. EurokazIt's avant-garde (the website gives an idea) and it involves theatre, dance and what was once known as "happenings". Check it out. RovinjSummer Salsa FestivalIt's only been going on for a few years but the new Salsa Festival is putting some spice into this old fishing village. SibenikInternational Children's FestivalPuppets, muppets, plays and workshops are all geared to young'uns in this kiddiefest. SplitFestival of Popular MusicTop Croatian pop stars make it their business to appear at this wildly popular festival at the end of June or beginning of July.
