Brac Island

Brac is a relatively dry island; you won't find the lush vegetation of, say Korcula or Hvar, but there are some lovely spots along the rocky shores and great scuba diving from Lucice Bay. Bol-based Big Blue Diving is an experienced diving operation that can take you on wonderful scuba diving tours of the waters surrounding Brac Island.

The two main resorts are

Supetar, the capital and
Bol, near famous Zlatni Rat beach, one of Croatia's best beaches.

For a quiet holiday, try the little coastal villages of

Splitska and
Milna.

Getting to Brac

Brac is one of the easiest islands to get to from Split which is why many Croatians from Zagreb or Split buy second residences in Brac. You can even do it as a day trip from Split.

By air
Croatia Airlines has regular weekly flights in the summer from Zagreb to the Brac airport where a shuttle bus takes you to Bol.

By car ferry
There are at least a dozen Jadrolinija car ferries a day from Split to Supetar (50 minutes) in summer, less at other times of year. See the Split-Supetar ferry timetable. There are also regular daily ferries from Makarska to Sumartin. See the ferry schedule.

Coming from Makarska by car, you can take one of the frequent Jadrolinija car ferry shuttles to Sumartin. Buses from Sumartin to other parts of the Brac Island are infrequent so it makes sense to have a car. Most car rental companies in Croatia have outlets in Makarska. See more.

By passenger ferry
There's a year-round passenger ferry from Split to Bol that goes on to Jelsa on Hvar Island. See the schedule.
