Public Transportation in SplitThe public transport system in Split is limited to buses but the system is extensive and buses run from around 5am to nearly midnight. Service is daily and quite frequent on the major bus lines--1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 17 and 21-- but on other lines you may have to wait for over an hour Monday to Saturday and find no service on Sunday. See a map of Split buses. If you will be staying in private accommodation or a hotel out of Split's centre, it's worthwhile to check into the frequency of the buses. If you'll be clubbing in Split, figure on taking a taxi back. For visitors the most useful local bus stop is across from the ferry harbour (luka). There you can catch the 2, 9, 10 or 15. The main station for all local buses is across from the National Theatre at Trznica. Bus tickets cost 9KN for a journey in the central zone and 11KN to reach outside the centre. Buy the tickets from a kiosk (tisak) or on the bus.
